Project Overview

Mustard Wharf is a contemporary build-to-rent housing scheme situated in the vibrant Holbeck area of Leeds, adjacent to the River Aire. This project encompasses 250 homes, strategically located near the canal and the railway station, presenting unique logistical challenges during development.

Project Goals

The primary objectives of the Mustard Wharf housing scheme include:

  • Delivering high-quality, energy-efficient rental housing.
  • Ensuring excellent indoor comfort and natural light for residents.
  • Overcoming logistical challenges associated with the site’s proximity to the river and railway.

Our Role

Euroview Architectural Glass was tasked with processing advanced low-emissivity (low-E) glass for the Mustard Wharf project. Collaborating with Elite Aluminium Systems, we supplied Guardian ClimaGuard A1.1 and ClimaGuard A1.0 glass to meet the project’s specific needs.

Solution

For this project, Euroview processed two types of Guardian ClimaGuard low-E glass:

  1. ClimaGuard A1.1: This low-E coated glass offers a Ug value of 1.1, providing excellent thermal insulation with high light transmission. It combines the energy efficiency of low-E glass with the clear, aesthetic appearance of standard float glass.

  2. ClimaGuard A1.0: A soft coat, dual stock low-E glass, ClimaGuard A1.0 delivers the highest level of thermal insulation possible in standard double-glazed insulating glass units.

Key Features of Guardian ClimaGuard Glass

  • Thermal Insulation: Both ClimaGuard A1.1 and A1.0 provide superior thermal insulation, reducing energy consumption and enhancing indoor comfort.
  • High Light Transmission: The high light transmission of ClimaGuard A1.1 ensures bright, naturally lit indoor spaces.
  • Aesthetic Appeal: ClimaGuard A1.1 maintains a clear float glass appearance, ensuring the building’s aesthetic appeal is preserved.
  • Optimum Insulation: ClimaGuard A1.0 offers the best thermal insulation achievable in standard double-glazed units, enhancing the energy efficiency of the homes.

Impact

The use of Guardian ClimaGuard A1.1 and A1.0 glass at Mustard Wharf has significantly contributed to the project’s success. The advanced low-E glass ensures the homes are energy-efficient and comfortable, with ample natural light enhancing the living spaces. The logistical challenges posed by the site were effectively managed, demonstrating the adaptability and expertise of the development team.

Conclusion

Euroview Architectural Glass is proud to have played a key role in the Mustard Wharf build-to-rent housing scheme. By providing high-performance low-E glass solutions, we have helped create a modern, energy-efficient residential community in Leeds.
